The Brief: Client wants to document every step of their factory process.

We’ve travelled all over the U.K. to all of the different factories for the nations favourite biscuit company and seeing every step of the process for EACH biscuit and cake honestly makes you appreciate it a bit more before demolishing a whole pack with a cuppa. Yeah this isn’t edgy marketing, but documenting the process of your product is evergreen content for internal and external use, don’t forget it.

I’ve survived my first year in the video production hustle 🤙 and here’s what I’ve learned so far…

1. Remember your worth and charge accordingly, be kind to smaller businesses that have a super small budget because you’ll help them grow - what goes around comes around!
2. Keep learning, just cos you’ve “made it” doesn’t mean the education has to stop - I still watch YouTube videos on editing and lighting to keep learning new things!
3. Get insurance - business insurance and life insurance. Yeah I still need to do the life insurance but actually.
4. Delegate where you need to - it’s hard to relinquish control with your clients and expect someone else to deliver, but I couldn’t have got through this year without my animator @loot_creative_design
5. Passion fuels perseverance - remember why you started this and the passion you had to do that, if you’ve turned your “hobby” into a business then work hard to still find the joy in it.

Documenting and filming was something that I first became passionate about when I went travelling. I turned it into a career choice during the pandemic (funnily enough) and now after 3 years, we’re back at it.

5 months of pre-production, 8 days of filming and 1 month of editing. So many late nights, so many early mornings. Blood, sweat and tears… literally. The Uninvited, is finished. It’s journey as a film though is just getting started, because now we count down to the screening at Greenwich ODEON in October 🤙🎬

It was an absolute honour to be mentored by BAFTA award-winning Cinematographer, Nic Knowland. He’s been on more film sets than I’ve had hot dinners, and I learned so much from Nic in the couple of months we worked together.
